Continuing Education - CEUs
The IMA Web University can be used as CEUs or Educational Contact Hours by
several organizations.
Below are the requirements from organizations on submitting and documenting the
educational credits obtained.
American Academy of Professional Coders
The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) was founded in an effort to
elevate the standards of medical coding by providing ongoing education,
certification, networking, and recognition. Currently, the Academy has a
membership base of nearly 45,000 participants worldwide, of which over 28,000
are certified.
The Academy's mission is to provide education and certification for professional
medical coders. The certifications focus on physician practice; Certified
Professional Coder (CPC); hospital outpatient facility; Certified Professional
Coder-Hospital (CPC-H); and recently added insurance professional from the payer
perspective, Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P). Specialty credentials
are currently offered through the Academy for evaluation and management, general
surgery, obstetrics & gynecology; orthopedics, emergency medicine, cardiology,
gastroenterology, psychiatry, and cardiovascular & thoracic surgery will be
available in the near future.

National Association of Healthcare
Access Management
The National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) is the only
national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the
management of Patient Access Services in all areas of the healthcare delivery
system including admissions, registration, scheduling, patient finance, guest
relations and other related services. NAHAM has been a leader in defining and
promoting best practices in healthcare access through education and public
advocacy initiatives for 30 years.

American Association of Healthcare
Administrative Management
The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) is the
premier professional organization in healthcare administrative management. AAHAM
was founded in 1968 as the American Guild of Patient Account Management.
Initially formed to serve the interests of hospital patient accounting managers,
AAHAM has evolved into a national membership association that represents a
broad-based constituency of healthcare professionals.

American Health Information Management
Association
The American Health Information Management Association (AAHIMA) is the premier
association of health information management (HIM) professionals. AHIMA's 50,000
members are dedicated to the effective management of personal health information
needed to deliver quality healthcare to the public. Founded in 1928 to improve
the quality of medical records, AHIMA is committed to advancing the HIM
profession in an increasingly electronic and global environment through
leadership in advocacy, education, certification, and lifelong learning.

Medical Group Management Association
The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), founded in 1926, is the
nation's principal voice for medical group practice. MGMA's 19,500 members
manage and lead more than 11,500 organizations in which more than 240,000
physicians practice.
MGMA serves the spectrum of physician practices from small to large, plus other
health care delivery systems such as management service organizations,
integrated delivery systems and ambulatory surgery centers.
The American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) can get you where
you want to be professionally. ACMPE is the standard-setting and certification
body of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Healthcare Financial Management
Association
The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) is the nation's leading
membership organization for more than 34,000 healthcare financial management
professionals employed by hospitals, integrated delivery systems, managed care
organizations, ambulatory and long-term care facilities, physician practices,
accounting and consulting firms, and insurance companies.
Members' positions include chief executive officer, chief financial officer,
controller, patient accounts manager, accountant, and consultant. HFMA offers
educational and professional development opportunities; information on key
issues affecting healthcare financial managers; resources, such as technical
data, checklists and research reports; and networking opportunities - all of
which provide members with the practical tools and ideas they need to ensure
career and organizational success.

Health Care Compliance Association
The vision of Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) is to be the pre-eminent
compliance and ethics association promoting lasting success and integrity of
organizations worldwide.
In 1998, the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) set out to develop a
certification program for healthcare compliance professionals. After preliminary
work by the HCCA Board of Directors and Education Committee, HCCA established
the Healthcare Compliance Certification Board (HCCB) in 1999 to complete the
process of developing an examination and assume responsibility for managing the
certification program.
The independent HCCB is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the HCCA
Board. The President and Immediate Past President of HCCA are ex-officio members
of the HCCB Board of Directors. The mission of the HCCB is to develop criteria
for the determination of competence in the practice of health care compliance at
a variety of levels and to recognize individuals meeting these criteria. In
pursuit of this mission, HCCB utilizes four basic committees: Exam Development,
Continuing Education, Admissions, and Ethics. Committee members are appointed by
the HCCB Board of Directors from among individuals Certified in Healthcare
Compliance CHC) and leaders in the field.

Pennsylvania State Nursing Association
The Pennsylvania State Nursing Association is a nonprofit association working
strictly for registered nurses in Pennsylvania. Our mission is to advance the
identity, integrity, and continuity of the nursing profession by:
- Providing access to education, improving knowledge and skills;
- Advocating and supporting the nursing profession with
Commonwealth policy makers, legislators and regulators; and,
- Offering valued information and services for professional
practice.
Registered nurses understand how abruptly the health care industry can change -
often impacting every aspect of the profession. The Pennsylvania State Nursing
Association works to protect the profession at the local, state, and national
levels, ensuring that while the health care segment continues to evolve, nurses'
rights are constantly protected. The Association depends greatly on the support
of its members, with membership fees directly supporting ongoing career
development and the quality of care you give to patients.
The Pennsylvania State Nursing Association is accredited by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

American Medical Billing Association
The American Medical Billing Association was formed to provide assistance for
small and home based professional medical billers with similar needs, interests
and goals. In order to become a voice in the industry, to be the best that we
can be, to be recognized for our efforts and to create opportunity among us,
members must work together to:
- Provide information and knowledge;
- Offer continuing education and ongoing research;
- Enable networking among peers;
- Develop innovative ideas and new technologies;
- Gain recognition for accomplishments;
- Provide leadership; and
- Offer fellowship and fun.
The ultimate goal of the association is to provide members with the resources
that enhance knowledge and skills to develop new ideas and technology,
collectively increasing and realizing true industry growth and leadership among
medical billers.
