Mary Ann G. Holt, RN, MSN, Partner, Operations Improvement

Mary Ann has over 25 years of progressive management experience in nursing, professional, and clinical support services, hospital operations, and healthcare administration. She is a proven leader with demonstrated organizational skills, ability to analyze cross-functional patient care, and implement process changes to improve quality and efficiency of services. Her strengths are project management, process re-engineering, system analysis, and performance improvement.

Prior to joining IMA Consulting in 2000, Mary Ann served for 16 years in hospital executive positions, four years as Associate Executive Director and 12 years as a Nurse Executive at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her consulting experience has included:

Since joining IMA Consulting, Mary Ann partnered with the largest non-profit national Health System in the establishment of an internal operations resource group, with identification and implementation of $70M in cost savings opportunities in Year 1. She has led the development of our Operations Improvement Service Line with offerings in hospital and clinical operations improvement, emergency services, perioperative services, care management, workforce dynamics, accreditation readiness, magnet recognition, and e-learning.

Mary Ann and her team have led, supported, and participated in leveraging client capabilities, process redesign, and IMA Consulting tools for healthcare organizations across the nation. Successes have been realized in operations performance benchmarking, emergency services and perioperative services operational redesign and implementation support, leadership development and mentoring, labor resource management, staffing models, care delivery models, clinical transformation, supply utilization, and interim leadership.

While at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Mary Ann served as a hospital executive, where she managed an annual operating budget of $130 million and 1,290 full time equivalents. She facilitated multiple initiatives focused on improving operations related to Nursing, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Laboratory, Radiology, Oncology, and Cardiac Catheterization services. She led the operational and clinical design for a $63-milllion state-of-art patient care facility, including equipment purchasing, and project management for the facility opening. She is credited with leading the development and implementation of business plans for start-up services such as Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation, Anti-Coagulation Clinic, and clinical services integration across multiple sites.

Mary Ann earned her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing in Philadelphia and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Neumann College in Aston, Pennsylvania. She is affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives; the American Association of Critical Care Nurses; the Oncology Nursing Society; Sigma Theta Tau, International; and was Past President of the Sigma Theta Tau, Xi Chapter. In 2007, she was named to the Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals.
